Step 1: Applying to FRYSC AmeriCorps

You will receive a username and password to create your application.

Step 2: Interview with a FRYSC AmeriCorps Host Site

Host service sites and FRYSC AmeriCorps staff work together to plan and interview applicants. If your application is chosen you will be called to arrange an interview. Interviews typically take place in July or August for the program year beginning in September.

Step 3: Consent to a National Service Criminal History Check

All service members must consent to and complete a National Service Criminal History Check and proof of citizenship documents before they serve an AmeriCorps term.  Click on the button below to get a copy of that form. View the video below to learn about the process and how to share your completed form with FRYSC AmeriCorps.

Note: Do not forget to upload your completed consent form and state issued photo ID. 

FRYSC AmeriCorps must have them to start your background check.

Step 4: Create a My AmeriCorps Account

You must create a My AmeriCorps service account to start your enrollment with FRYSC Corps or to start your search for other AmeriCorps opportunities. Links below will take you to My AmeriCorps and the USPS Zipcode Finder

Step 5: Finish Your NSCHC 

If you are offered a FRYSC AmeriCorps position, we will do a criminal history check. Make sure you have completed and uploaded your NSCHC Consent form and a photo of your state issued photo ID.


Look for an email from Truescreen to complete a state of service and/or a state of residence check.


FRYSC AmeriCorps will send you directions to arrange an appointment for a fingerprint check.  Watch the video below for some helpful tips. 

NOTE: Please respond to requests for background checks immediately. The checks must be complete in order to begin service.

Step 6: Finish Your Enrollment with FRYSC AmeriCorps

If you are offered a service position, AmeriCorps members complete their enrollment in My AmeriCorps and complete the remainder of required paperwork.

Step 7: Sign your Member Service Agreement

Service cannot start before September 1 nor before a member service agreement is signed. Watch the video below for details of the service agreement. NOTE: Pay attention to the video you choose. LIteracy Tutors watch video 1. Youth Members watch video 2.
